Kate Spotted Leaving London/Mouret or McQueen?

Friday, March 21, 2014

Kate has left London for the weekend, it would seem. A very lucky Tweeter spotted the Duchess of Cambridge in her Range Rover heading for the open road, followed by her protection officers in another RR behind her. Although, the gentleman who spotted her chivalrously declined to reveal in which direction Kate was headed, if it is an exciting or newsworthy destination, I am sure the story will turn up. She could be heading to Berkshire, or she may be on the way to a weekend wedding.

On Monday this week, Kate, William, and Harry attended a chairman's dinner for their foundation at Buckingham Palace. It was reported that Kate wore a white dress. Although, some have suggested that she may have worn the lacy McQueen...

I think it is far more likely the Duchess wore her white Mouret....

On the scale of formal dresses, the McQueen is very formal, and it would be much easier to wear the Mouret which is stunning in its own right, but more easily dressed up and down, without going entirely overboard. It was a dinner, not a ball. No photos were released, so it is hard to confirm, but that is my educated guess.

Because I know you want to know, it turns out the nanny is 43, which explains how she could have the reputed twenty plus years of experience without being worked as a child.

Still nothing on Kate's calendar, although William has added engagements. I haven't given up hope, but the forecast is not entirely bright. We shall see...

  1. Hi Jane, do you have any links to William centric blogs? While Kate is my favorite royal, I like to see what the others are up to also. :) I checked your links page, but it looks like most of those haven't been updated in a while. Just wondering.

    1. Zoe, I have to tell you the truth. I don't know of a single blog focused on William the way there are blogs about Kate. Now, the great interweb is a big place, and there are probably plenty of awesome Kate blogs I have never heard of, but I have never come across a William blog. Ever. There are tumblrs dedicated to Prince Harry, and I suppose had William stayed single longer, there would have been things on him, too, but Kate was there pretty early. :) Not that you are looking for that--I get you are looking for a more serious, "this is what the heir to the throne is up to" rather than a teen crush site, but, I honestly had never even thought about William blogs. If I come across one, I will post on it! Sorry I can't be of more help!

    2. At present William is on his course at Cambridge---local newspaper reports that he popped into a local restaurant for lunch on Thursday---unannounced and accompanied by someone described as an academic.

  2. She is still technically on maternity leave. I feel like people are so critical!

    1. I think people would be more forgiving if she had carried out a heavier workload before her pregnancy. When does her maternity leave end? When they head to Australia?

    2. No one's being critical. No one begrudges Kate time with George BUT Kate is NOT a stay at home mother. If that's the life she wanted to lead, she should've married someone else. When she stood before William and said 'I do', she became a representative of the British Royal Family, who in turn, unless/until Republic gets their way, are representatives of the British people. The British public are footing the bill for her security, which if you didn't know cost MONEY every time she decides she needs to stay with her parents house, which has been an inordinate amount of times since she's gotten married, and for extended periods of time, so I'm sure she's racked up a waste in the MILLION pound range, in security alone. The public has now footed the bill for the increasingly costly renovation of her Kensington Palace apartment, which has now reached a price of 2 MILLION pounds and I'm sure will go higher because the renovation still isn't done. Public money is ALSO footing the bill for the updo of Amner Hall and as big as that mansion is, God only knows how much that's costing. No one expected Kate to be a second Diana. That woman, for her all her faults, was a damn hard worker, but NO ONE thought she'd sit on her ass doing nothing either. And that's really what she's been doing, because sorry to break it to you but galas and movie premiers, and handing out shamrock isn't real work. William's 90+ year old grandfather continues to out perform both her and William, every year that they've been married. She should be being hands on with some of the charities that she's patron of but instead, she makes random visits to charities that she's not even patron of (the children's Hospice, end of last year), when she needs a minute-lasting PR boost, and then nothing. Oh but if it's a Gala, movie premiere, or handing out Shamrock, she's very interested! She gives off the air of thinking that marrying William meant that she could live the life that some wealthy Wall Street banker's wife gets to live: all the perks and little to no work. It doesn't work that way. She and William are looking to be a big disappointment, even the Australia/NZ tour, has been cut very short and the itinerary is a big joke.

    3. I have to agree, and very well said. The Duchess has responsibilities now, I believe she could be doing so much more. Yes Diana was a incredibly hard worker, was very passionate and dedicated and it showed. Duchess could be doing so much more, but chooses not to. Hospital/hospice visits, for example, very lightweight the 3 engagements so far this year in 3 months. Very disappointing effort, she has the capabilities and resources to make a difference out there. Royal tour coming up so what? Whoever if anyone is advising her seriously needs to rethink there strategy.

    4. Since George was born, she has looked after him by herself 99% of the time. So it isnt any surprise that there have been few royal engagements.

It seems to me that Catherine is a person who likes to work things through herself - she researches her charities, has informal meetings, leanrs her way around what she is doing. I think this is the approach she has had to bringing up George. She could have done what all other royals have done and handed him over to a nursery nurse and nanny from the get go. (Then of course some could complain about that!).

She didn't - she wanted to be with him, love him, look after him, understand what he liked and didnt like - the whole thing. Then when recruiting an experienced nanny, it was Catherine explaining about her child's needs and wants, not the nanny taking over. I've always thought this.

She now has the nanny in place; William's course is ending and the Australia trip is about to start.

I wish that we could have seen more of them, but I understand why we haven't. We are still in William's "transitional" year. Everything that has happened is not a surprise because we were told, in advance, that was how it was going to be. You might not like it but no one has lied or made promises they haven't kept. Disappointment might make people angry but that lies with those individuals.

Roll on the tour and enjoy it.

  3. I hear the of her maternity leave is 'unknown'.. I guess if she is still on maternity leave, she'll officially be off not until the royal tour.

  4. Was she driving herself? Was George with her?

    1. She was driving it herself, but I don't know if George was with her. Since she was leaving town, I cannot imagine a scenario in which he wouldn't be.

  5. Wonder if she was on her way to pick William up at Cambridge then on their way out of town for the weekend. I can't believe she was driving herself. But they like to do things their way and I bet George was with her along with the nanny.

    1. Well, Kate often drives herself. She doesn't when she is shopping in London and is being picked up and dropped off, as we have seen happen, but in general, she drives herself--particularly when heading on longer drives like to Berkshire. I agree, I think George was probably with her, as well as Maria.
