The Cambridge Family Visits the Butterflies at the Natural History Museum

Wednesday, July 2, 2014

This morning, the Cambridges enjoyed a family outing to the Butterfly Exhibit at the National History Museum.

A nearby fan, Emily Rickard, very nicely posted the photos she took on Twitter, so we all have the opportunity to see Kate!

The museum has a website with a video promoting the exhibit and it is clear that it is family friendly and fun for all ages. George certainly seems old enough to have an interest in all the tiny, colorful butterflies flying about, and I am sure this was first and foremost a personal experience that both William and Kate wanted to savor.

In addition, it may also be that the Cambidges were undertaking a private photoshoot, or perhaps a photoshoot for a future campaign for the museum.  Kate is a patron of the museum and so we have seen her at the museum on a number of occasions.

Kate was wearing her Budding Hearts dress by Suzannah which we first caught glimpses of Down Under, but never have seen without a coat.

Suzannah

I believe she wore it under both the green Erdem and the green Catherine Walker. I wish we had a better view this morning, but perhaps their pictures will be released in some official capacity down the road.

The Cambridges still had a busy day, because William and Kate did indeed show up at Wimbledon to cheer on Andy Murray! That post is up next...

  1. It is great to see this beautiful family doing things together. But I feel bad for them, they can't even take thier baby out without someone taking a photo. Great job again Jane.

    2. Touch, A. Not trying to create any drama, but I agree. Photos like these are a necessary evil. And they were with their staff, which hints an element of "work". We get excited for Kate sightings, whether this, grabbing coffee, or playing with George on Easter Sunday. I do, however, disagree with photos of them like their France vacation... I also firmly believe that the down-to-earth family type photos make us love them more. :-)

    3. Agreed, of course I meant these harmless photos not those that were taken in France.A.

    4. Well, just bear in mind that we haven't seen Kate with George since Father's Day--so several weeks--he hasn't been holed up in his house for that time period with no sunshine or air. He has been out, we just haven't seen him. Kate knows that she could and very well may be photographed trooping about London on any random day, but they get out plenty without being photographed. I don't find these invasive at all. Now, I agree with all comments about France...that was an entirely different situation.

  2. So cute that they took George along!! I'm curious to see how the photo(s) are used, because while Kate looks her usual dressed up William is in jeans. Makes me think it was somewhat informal/relaxed. I had another thought that we could get another official photo for George's 1st birthday, but the jeans make me think it isn't for that. But who knows...

    1. I too think that this might be for PG's first birthday. Would make a lovely photo. Not too concerned about Will's jeans because when they were at Taronga Zoo, he looked far more casual that what Kate did that day.

    2. Kate probably knows that if she looks even a tiny bit "off" that the critics will be out there making comments. Just look at the comments about her hair the other day. So other than the most casual of events, like the polo game which was on a Sunday, she probably feels she is obligated to dress up. Even before they married, she was usually in a dress or skirt, so it could be she simply likes wearing them. William can afford to be more casual. No one comments about his clothes.
