Introducing The New Website: Welcome, Kate's Clothes!

Thursday, April 9, 2015

In January, I promised you all a special surprise that would be released on the Duchess's birthday, and as several of you noted in the weeks following, I didn't come through on that promise. I am so excited today to say that the surprise is at last here!

I am launching a brand new website dedicated to our favorite Princess. A year ago this month, William and Kate were just starting their tour of New Zealand and Australia. In the long (wonderful) days that followed, sleep deprivation and perhaps too much coffee, made my brain a little fuzzy at times. While I can usually recognize any piece Kate has worn, in addition to knowing where she has worn it and when, I was having some memory lapses that month! I realized that as time marched on, it would be harder and harder to remember everything precisely.  Kate's Clothes is a tool I needed to build to keep track of everything the Duchess has worn, and I decided, why not share it with everyone? So, we made what I think of as a bit of a playground for those of us who really love to know the little details about Kate's fashion. As my creative outlet, and the forum in which I can interact with all of you, From Berkshire to Buckingham will always remain my "flagship." I won't be giving up the ship. Nothing has changed here.

You will notice that the website is not entirely polished in every corner. There are some glitches we are still working through, and I have been a little underwater on this end, so not all her ensembles are fully loaded. But, I decided that rather than wait any longer, I would get this out so you can start using and enjoying it. Besides, today is April 9th, which is the day Henry V--one of my favorite kings-- was coronated. I thought it was as good a date as any. Make sure you follow the new website on Facebook here, on Twitter here, and on Instagram here.

Without further ado, why don't you pop over to Kate's Clothes and get squinted.

    1. Obviously, I didn't want to just give you one "congratulation." It was meant to be plural. -Tess

  6. Hope this doesn't post twice.I just wanted to say, what a lovely suprise! You chose one of my favorites to start here.
I'll never forget her wearing the red dress with black accents for her Christchurch visit. Those colors are meaningful to
them, if I remember correctly. I am looking forward to sitting down with a nice cuppa and exploring your new site.
By the way, you're MY cup of tea. So glad you will continue with this site. (Berkshire...)

    1. The new site is truly amazing!

mkleinfeldt, I really liked this red suit on Kate and I wish she would wear more of them. :)

    2. When I saw how she had reworked that suit, it took my breath for a second. I have been shopping of longer hems since!
It has been very busy working on Kate's Clothes, but I can't wait to get back here and get back to blogging!

    3. Jane, your "rework" comment made me take a second look. :) I didn't realize that the skirt was longer the second time she wore the suit. Comparing the two looks, the longer skirt did up the vintage factor IMO.

You should do some press for the new site.

  12. Oh Jane, what a wonderful new addition to royal sites in the web! I just popped by and tried the search option in hat category and it works absolutely great. I already know your new site will be my primary resource when I need to check facts about Kate's clothes. Thank you!

    1. Thank you! Hats are complete, although there are a few entries missing, but everything there is functioning properly. Jewelry, too, should be working smoothly. The Browse page is still under constructions, so it won't be bringing up everything, but I am working on it as I type. :) I will announce when I have gotten it to be fully-functioning. Thanks for your support and kind words!! xoxo, Jane

Jane, the new website is just absolutely amazing, I love it!
    Congratulations!

Thank you for all the work and efforts that you've done - the website is so helpful if I am looking for a certain outfit of Kate's (especially that you can choose the type of the dress, for example).

    Keep it up :)

  17. I am confused. The new site comes up fine on my phone (looks great, btw!) but every time I try it on my laptop I get a "Coming Soon" message. I even tried emailing myself the link from my phone where it was working but it still won't come up on the computer :(

  18. Woohoo - I love it! Thanks for taking the time to put together this second wonderful website, and of course, what will be the day-to-day writing and research for it!

Love the new site! It's obvious you put so much time and effort into it - and its shows with a really great product! I think when it comes to covering Kate in the blogosphere - there's always room for excellent sites like that! xx R.

  24. Did you consider "Kate's Closet"? Sounds better.

    1. Closet is American for wardrobe. Catherine is British. I don't think Kate's wardrobe sounds that enticing.

    2. This is an American site, a .com not a .co.uk and so is Kate's Clothes. When Jane writes, she writes using American lingo. Closet would be perfectly acceptable. I'm sure Jane went through several names, checking to see if the sites were available before she decided. Maybe "Kate's Closet" was too expensive.

  26. This is the hair color Kate should use now. Much prettier than her lighter shade.

I wonder if she ever studies old pics for her best looks? I would.

Hi Jane. Did you not cover the shopping trip Kate made recently wearing the Marina coat because you didn't think it was authentic? I know you usually publish all her sightings, great and small. Your new website is very nice btw. Can't imagine the work that is going into that. I appreciate it because I'm often combing through old posts trying to find what she wore when. It's nice to have it all in one place.

  34. Hi Jane,

Kate's Closet is amazing!!!!! - it means I can stop keeping cut-out pictures from magazines or a computer file of all the Duchess' clothes that I love - you've done it for me. I just looked at the Alexander McQueen coats and fell in love with them all over again! Thanks for all the work you do. This website is amazing too!

  35. GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!!!! Well done, Jane, highly enjoyed your new website!! Love the way you "categorized", I mean I sure know most of the clothes (;-))))) ), but to sort of surf through them/search for them in categories was/is really highly interesting and very enjoyable. And all the additional information - great, really great!!! Thanks so much for all your efforts - it sure was worth it!!
