Launching a New Project...

Tuesday, September 29, 2015

Hello, everyone! I know you think I am here to to remind everyone that Paris Fashion Week kicked off today! (That is definitely on my mind, but not the reason I am blogging tonight) I am so pleased to pop in tonight to tell you all that a project that has been in my mind for some months is finally kicking into gear a little more! Today, I am launching the Kate's Clothes Contributors. As you know, a little over a year ago I began the long process of building Kate's Clothes: the Online Encyclopedia of Kate's Fashion!

When I first envisioned the site, I had wanted to build it so other voices could get involved. I wanted to provide a platform for Kate fans to write or contribute pieces or ideas, whether that was as a single submission or as a regular contributor. As someone who has an addiction to writing and producing content, I know how much I want to write, but I also know how much work and expense is involved in maintaining blogs/websites and producing the content that can build a steady, global audience. The Kate's Clothes Contributor project will allow writers without the time (or inclination to be that invested) an audience and a voice--and just the opportunity to write and be read--without having to go the route of a full blog! It is something I would have loved before I started blogging, and I hope others find it enjoyable, too.

Today, I am excited to welcome Amanda Leonor who has written an awesome post about Pantone's new color of the year! She has pulled together some beautiful pieces inspired by one of Kate's favorite colors! I hope you pop over to Kate's Clothes and enjoy the post!!

...and, Happy Shopping! ;)

    2. We agreed, royalfan? You're right, not shocked! ;-)

I was out shopping for 'female undergarments' this evening and I saw some sweaters and other tops in "snorkel blue" while dragging the hubby through sections of the store he'd rather die than enter! It's character building for him.

  2. Good move Jane to remove negativity!

    Time for fun now!

  3. Okay, I'm not able to "reply" where I would like to so I hope this will post and not be lost in space. Lol.

Robin I did enjoy your "character building" remark. How true! But more importantly, I want to wish you a safe trip to London and hope you enjoy every bit of it. Oh, and have that slice of Victoria Sponge for me.... :))

  4. I commented over on the other page but wanted to put it here too - bravo, great idea to open up the platform like this. I LOVED the article Amanda wrote, the pics included, etc. I have my set rotations of blogs that I page through when wondering what Kate's up to and I fear Kate's Clothes has never made it onto my radar beyond when you link to it. Now with this content I hope to keep it in mind! I'd love it if you could link to it from your main page as you did hear, in a feature post, so that I can get in the groove of heading over there. Thanks for all you do!

  7. Well my comments to RobinfromCa regarding pics..stalking our Kate was all in fun. Guess it was not appropriate. Apologies. This ends my comments. Have a great trip Robin
As for this blog no more comments from me. Just reading.

Very confused by the rules. But I respect them.
Perhaps my comment was deemed bad taste. Well we Americans are certainly not very posh. Or at least this one is not very posh.

  9. I am new here, and I love the page, but I have to admit that I am very confused about the commenting system. I replied to a comment on this post the day that it was published, and now the entire thread is gone, even though the site owner specifically said she was going to allow it to be posted and to stay there. My comment was in support of the site's administrator and contained no profanities or anything that would require its removal.

I returned to the post today to read the other comments, and now it is all very confusing. There is a comment "Thank you, Sarita!" but no post from anyone named Sarita, only a deleted post by someone named Shannon. I do enjoy this site a lot and I appreciate the fact that moderating comments is an incredibly difficult job, but this seems to be really too confusing to even attempt to keep up with, especially as a newer visitor to the site with no idea as to any of the behind-the-scenes issues that might be causing all of this commenting drama. I don't know what the answer is and obviously it is up to the site's owner to run things as she wishes, but from an objective third party it is almost impossible to navigate. Just my two cents!

    1. Hi Lisa. There shouldn't be drama, I haven't noticed any recently. Every now and again someone's comment gets lost--actually, it isn't that unusual, it happens with some regularity. I have no control over it. It is a Google Blogger glitch. I never see it and sometimes readers get quite upset, thinking that I moderated their comment and didn't let it go live. 95% of the time, I never saw it. So, there is that. Beyond that, the rules are pretty common sense. Be polite. If you use foul language, attack a fellow reader, or so something super nasty or negative about Kate or her family, you won't see your comment appear. If you didn't do any of those things, then the likelihood is your comment is lost in cyberspace, or possibly in my spam queue.
You are referencing a comment made by a very unpleasant visitor which I did delete. Sometimes, when I get a very nasty bullying remark I let it go live to shame the bully and allow me to respond, since they always comment anonymously. I often delete them after a period, because really I don't owe them the global platform this blog affords. My purpose is to answer them and move on. Otherwise, it can get rather dramatic, and I prefer to avoid that.
There are a few other issues we try to avoid, but if you are new to the site, it is unlikely those will come up.
      Welcome! thanks for joining us!

    2. I agree Lisa!

      I am Anon 10:28 9/30.

I enjoy the blog immensely myself. I don't know if there is a problem with the system or if my comment was inappropriate. I did not think it was inappropriate and all in good fun.

I have recently noticed several people stating that their posts are MIA or just disappear. Makes me think it is not Jane the Admin but maybe the matrix?

I think I will just read and not comment going forward. Less stress lol

The rules for commenting are simple: be polite. Please be respectful of the BRF/Middletons, even in criticism; please be respectful of your fellow readers, even in disagreement. Vulgarity will disqualify a comment.

Debate is welcome, direct and personal insults are not. Topics we tend to avoid here: "does Kate work enough?" and "Is Kate too skinny?" Everything is subject to approval.

I (Jane Barr) moderate all comments. If a comment is live, I approved it. If you find something offensive, or think my approval was an error, please email me at princesskateblog(at)gmail.com.

At times, an acceptable comment just goes missing. If you felt your comment should have been approved, but did not show up within five hours, again, pop an email to the above address.

Happy chatting!
