Well, some fun photos surfaced today. A few surreptitious snaps were taken of Kate dining with her mother and Pippa on Tuesday (December 1st) at Clos Maggiore, an intimate restaurant in London. A fellow diner took a photo of Kate in the candlelit restaurant, and you can see her over the shoulder of the woman's dining companion.
[Update] Eagle eyed Sara on Twitter pointed out that Kate's Mulberry "Bayswater" clutch is sitting on the ledge behind her! Also, Kaye in the comments has noted that Carole might be leaning in to chat with the man who appears to be James Middleton, so it may have been the whole Middleton family?
Clos Maggiore offers what is described as contemporary French cuisine, with what appears to be an Italian influence :
Clos Maggiore is an oasis of calm in the heart of Covent Garden. Influenced by the stylish country inns of Provence and Tuscany the unique interiors create an unparalleled warmth and intimacy. The apple blossomed adorned conservatory features a fully retractable glass roof creating a bright and airy dining space in summer months and in winter months it is transformed at night by candles, starlight and a crackling fire.Doesn't it look delightful? It almost reminds me of Kate's wedding theme with the interior theme of a an outdoor space. I love it. It looks magical.
Josephine W was also a diner that night and she captured a shot of Carole, who was Kate's dinner partner. Ashley reported on Twitter that Pippa was also present. I haven't seen photos of Pippa, but it certainly makes sense that she would be along for the festive meal.
Just the next night, Carole and Pippa attended the Henry van Straubenzee Christmas Carol Concert, but without Kate. If you missed that post, you can read it here.
It looks like Kate had a cozy and lovely night with her mom and sister! It is nice to see a shot of the Duchess out enjoying an ordinary evening with her family--although, I frankly think she is probably out more than many suspect. We only get the occasional snap. Speaking to that, I know some people will ask, so I will preemptively answer. If Kate was photographed every time she stepped out the door, it would start to feel a little odd, but I don't think there is anything unusual in the occasional excited fan taking a photo of one of the most famous women in the world. I think Kate expects it, I think the public can enjoy the occasional celebrity shot. That's my two cents. :)
