Happy Valentine's Day!

Wednesday, February 14, 2018

Happy Valentine's Day! I love this holiday. The pinks and red and whites, the romance and whimsy that just bursts from the woodwork on social media... In what would otherwise be a dreary month between the holiday season and spring, this is such a lovely moment to pause and celebrate love. I am posting pictures of Kate in pink on Instagram, so it might seem strange that I chose a blue ensemble for my Valentine to you all today. But, this picture of William and Kate is so perfect! The laughter  has been a hallmark of their marriage and a trait that speaks much louder than words to the depth of their love and the strength of their bond.

That being said, a little shoulder never hurt anyone. Bonus points, this is pink and red. ;)

Whatever you are up to today, whether you have a Valentine sending you flowers or you are treating yourself to a cozy tea and an iced sugar cookie (my favorite!), I hope your day is filled with beauty and peace, and lots of laughter!

Sending warm wishes!!

I'm looking at the man on the far right of the first photo and cannot help but imagine his thoughts.... "that is one lucky man!" 😊

  6. Dear Jane,
I went over your blog several time to find a section “contact” but I have not been able to find it. I wanted to contact you to share with you the address of one of my blog. I have a blog about the duchess of Cambride, but mine is very different from yours. The goal of my blog is to write the Duchesse of cambride’s diary. However, the stylistic device is an old-fashioned one, since I am expressing myself like the women at the beginning of the XIXth century. At that time lots of women from the nobility used to write about their daily life. I thought that if the Duchess of Cambridge would have lived at that time, she probably would have written hers.
I do not write a post about all of her engagements. I pick some and I try to interpret her thoughts. It is a fun thing to do. Your blog is really helping me to do my research. I have been reading it with great joy since 2012. I remember the first one that I read: it was a lovely post about Kate refilling her car tank and buying some crackers! I really like the fact that you relay Things from her day-t-day life. Thanks to your blog we get a better insight of who she is.
I am French, so my blog is written in French. I do not know if you speak the language but I know that you are a francophile. My blog might be a venue for you to practice your French. This is the address of my blog:

I hope that I am not upsetting you by using the comment section, but I really cannot find the “contact” section. However, I am glad that my comment will be visible after approval. It will give you the opportunity to publish it or not.
Anyway, I have a great admiration for your blog. It is so beautifully done. I appreciate you ethics, and your loyalty.
    Sincerely
    Montaine

    1. Dear Montaine,

I am so sorry you had trouble finding my contact info. It's on the "Welcome" page at the bottom, and probably somewhere on the "About" page, too. No worries, though. You can always welcome to default to the comment section.

Your website is lovely! And you are correct that my French needs practice, so I will be popping in to read and enjoy your creativity, and also to keep my French from getting rusty! :)

Thank you for reading FBTB! It is such a special pastime for me, and I am so grateful that you and so many others still gather to royal watch with me. It makes all the difference.

      Warmly,
      Jane

I will try to be more vocal in your comment section. I really enjoy to read them all to see how Kate’s engagements are perceived among royal watchers.

    4. Thank you for your heart-warming wishes . I have been reading your blog for a few years and it is always a pleasure to see that you really care for your readers .
A little more than two years ago , you chose to share some people's shock by posting a photo of a chapel in Notre Dame de Paris . It was so simple , moving and appropriate .
I hope that today a lot of people have told you how special you are for them .

  7. Dear Imke,
Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately, my blog is not available in English. I tried to translate the posts that are already exixting, but it is really difficult. I should be more persistant, but for now it is only in French.
    Thank you for your suggestion.
I wish you a nice afternoon.

    1. Montaine, I just visited your blog site and it is lovely; thank you for sharing with us.
Jane, again, many thanks for your posts. I love your insightful critiques that are done with respect. I check every morning for any new posts and comments.
I am excited about new baby Cambridge and the upcoming wedding of Harry and Meghan and I wonder what Kate will wear? I remember I did not like Diana’s outfit at Andrew and Sarah’s wedding (yes, I am that old!) and hearing she was trying not to steal the spotlight. I think we had a similar discussion around Pippa’s wedding.....sorry, I digress!
      Happy Friday Everyone!

    3. Linda, I remember being disappointed in Diana's outfit as well but understanding that she didn't want to steal spotlight. I imagine Kate will do something similar. No flashy or bright colors. It's respectful.

    4. I also did not like Diana's outfit at A & S's wedding but not understanding how those huge polka dots were low key to not steal the spotlight?!

    5. Anglophile, for me it wasn't the big dots it was the drab colors. That dark teal with black was seemed so dull. It was Diana's "spots" period so her turning up in them wasn't surprising but she usually wore bright colors with white spots or vice versa. Still, she looked chic as always.

    6. LOL I do agree that polka dots are not very shy for lack of a better word. But we should remember that Diana wore the dress during her polka dot phase and I also believe it was a reflection of her happiness over the union between Andrew and Sarah.

  8. Jane, you can just look at those pictures and know they are so in love. They are the perfect fit for one another. Kate is such a good role model for young women. Their mental health initiative is just what our country needs. Again, I look daily at your blog hoping for something. It’s not like you have a job or anything, lol!! Keep up your excellent work.

  9. Based on Kate's tan, it seem apt to suppose that the Cambridge family have recently returned from a tropical location.

  10. Maybe, anon 1:36 AM. If she could take a train there. No more flying-especially long-distance flying- at this stage of pregnancy. I assume you are the anon that also remarked that her face was looking different since the tour. I wasn't sure what you were getting at with that comment. Thanks for clarifying.
Actually, with facial make-up for flash photography involved, I don't know how one can assume she has a tan. Her arms don't appear tan at all to me.anon1
