Kate Recycles Favorite JoJo Maman Bébé at Pegasus Primary

Tuesday, March 6, 2018

This morning the Duchess of Cambridge was out in Oxford to learn more about work that is being done for children and families in the mental health field. She was at Pegasus Primary School wearing an ensemble that has been on many a fan's recycle-wish-list throughout this pregnancy. It was a good day all around!

If I have said it once, I have said it a million times, I love these primary school engagements with all the kids waving their little flags to welcome Kate. It is completely the cutest.

The Duchess is continuing to focus her attention on early intervention for mental health, and this visit provided her the opportunity to see the charity Family Links in action. Kate visited with parents and children to hear how Family Links supports them in fostering a healthy environment for their children, and for kids to promote emotionally healthy relationships with their peers in the classroom:

I think the sweetest story today was this little book of poems and lullabies that the students at the school put together for Kate to read and sing to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and the new baby!

Kate was accompanied by Catherine Quinn today, who stood out of the way in most of the shots, but is visible standing discreetly to the right in this shot. Arthur Edwards there in the background, too.

Just this past week a number of you were chatting about ensembles that Kate might still recycle. I think this creamy JoJo Maman Bébé coat was top of the list for preferred repeat, so I know more than a few are delighted with today's choice!

Kate first wore this coat while pregnant with Princess Charlotte, and if this flattering maternity coat's  lovely lines weren't memorable enough, the venue solidified it for us all. The Princess was visiting the set of Downton Abbey as they filmed the final season! (tears, even now)

It was so fabulous!! I busted the picture budget on that post, so pop over if you need a trip down memory lane.

On the set of Downton, Kate paired the coat with navy accessories, but today she switched it up a little with her brown Emmy clutch and matching brown suede shoes.

This coat was always going to be a win if she recycled. I know how much you all wanted to see it again, and I am super happy the Duchess decided to give it another wear. It really is such a flattering coat with a sturdy, quality fabric and proper tailoring. I particularly enjoyed seeing it with brown, which is relatively unusual from Kate. Win, win, win.

  1. Dear Jane,
Thank you for this womderful post. This coat is very flattering on kate. The color is very tender and the pearl earings enhance very nicely the sweetness of the coat.
Than you for including a video as well.

    1. I especially appreciate the care (and expense!) Jane exhibits in her selection of photographs. Some of them have stories that leap off the page and into my heart. The photo of Kate before the line of three students presenting their gifts: the first youth so casual, as though meeting royalty was a daily event for him; the middle girl, so dignified and proper; the final boy clutching his posy so anxiously. The best part for me, however, is the determined little girl with her arms in pink sleeves, reaching through the bars of the fence as though to touch-or grab- Kate.
I can see why Jane particularly enjoys these school engagements.
I just like seeing her magic with children, whether her own children or at a school, with Scouts, at a tennis practice, and especially in a children's hospice.
It has been a joy watching as she blossoms. Thanks to Jane for showing us. anon1

    2. Well said, anon1. I love Jane's choice of photos! The little boy with his hands in his pockets made me smile with his casual stance and genuine smile.

  2. With passing time and Catherine coming towards the end of her engagements before going on maternity leave, I was growing nervous that we wouldn't see this beautiful coat recycled.I am among the many who consider this a favourite. I love the brown accessories with this. I can't recall when Catherine wore these brown shoes before though. Many have said it before me and I agree, Catherine looks amazing for this stage of her pregnancy.

  3. I would so much like to know what cream dress she wore underneath. It is not the AMQ from the Scandinavian tour from the titbits we could see.

  4. I am very happy she finally recycled a piece from earlier pregnancies. It puts to rest the explanation that she is wearing so many bespoke and new items because her old ones don't fit her. They do.
Also, if these items get a second chance, why on earth not spice it up a bit. She wears the same earrings, not the shoes this time but just boring and predictable.

  6. Beautiful and classic. Although her hair looks great today I love seeing the photos of her long hair and I think, if she had a different hairstylist, it would be nice to see it long again.

  8. So happy you are back Jane!
Loved everything about this event; the coat looked lovely ( I, too, was hoping for a recycle), the brown accessories were perfect, her hair looked great, she looked altogether fabulous! Kate has really embraced her role as a senior royal, in my opinion.
Her interaction with the children at the table was enjoyable to watch and I couldn’t help but think someday, when they are grown and she is queen, what a special memory that will be for them!
RobinCa mentioned the speculation about a late April due date coming from some dubious sources on another thread and I agree with her....I don’t think anyone close to the Cambridge’s would leak that info and, IMHO, she looks like she is due sooner than that.
Exciting spring for all of us royal watchers!

  9. Wonderful look for Kate today! She wears this color so well and this coat is just gorgeous! I think there are one or two more times we'll see her and then it will be that dry spell which always comes with maternity leave. She's spoiled us this winter!

    1. Yes, Robin, she *has* been spoiling us. Her wardrobe has improved with each pregnancy. :-)

  10. Thank-you for saying "senior royal," Linda! Full time royal seems like such a vague, imprecise term to me-one that the royals do not themselves use. Nobody really knows what it means, Also, comparisons to work routines in other jobs aren't realistic.
Exciting Spring and more! There is Zara's baby and Eugenie's wedding and the continued evolution of the younger royals' projects. The BRF is under-going a renewal and refurbishing. Perhaps this will help steady the monarchy in the sad and challenging times to come. anon1

  11. Love the brown. You know Jane, you made me realize that Kate will be a beloved future Queen, particularly with her work with the younger generation. These children will make sure that their children, and so on, will grown to love and respect her.

  12. Oh and by the way, Jane. I've said this many times before, I truly truly believe Kate or someone in her world reads this blog. It feels like when comments are shouted loud enough, things come to fruition. No coincidence.

  13. I think her hair looks amazing right now, but seeing those photos from Downton, I kind of miss her long locks! They were so bouncy and full. She looks lovely. That book is such a sweet present!
