Watch Live: Duchess Kate Has Had a Baby Boy

Update: It's a boy!!

Good Morning and Happy St. George's Day! This has been predicted as Kate's due-date for over a month this morning, and it looks like everyone who trusted Emily Andrews' source is in luck. The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to St. Mary's Hospital in London this morning in early hours of the morning, before dawn. You can watch the excitement live here:

The media has gathered at the Lindo Wing and royal reporters think we could get news quite soon that a new prince or princess has arrived! Although Kate seems like a woman who is very focused on natural methods, this Monday arrival on the predicted due-date does make me wonder if she chose to be induced?

I knew the baby was gonna come today, as today I am so busy and cannot watch it live later if they leave the hospital today...
I should have bet on it :D

    2. I'm there with you, Sonja! Fortunately I have a lot of phone calls to make first thing so I can watch for William to bring the kids.

  3. Cannot wait to hear about the new arrival. Hope the delivery is uneventful and that Kate is not in too much pain. Everybody healthy please!

  4. Yay!!! So glad I woke up to this. I'm with you, Jane, thinking she has most probably been induced.

    1. I'm so excited that the baby is here although I was hoping he would show up on the Queen's birthday.

I actually don't think she was induced. The baby came way too fast for an induction. Those can take many many hours since the body isn't ready for the baby to come out yet and she delivered in like 6 hours it seems like.

    2. I agree, Ellen. It was fast for an induction, although I do know one that only took three hours, so improbable but not impossible. Kate has these babies so quickly, it is almost anticlimactic. So excited to see the first glimpse of this new little prince.

    3. With a 3rd baby and at full term, an induction can be as simple as a quick "rupture of membranes" and nothing else. My doctor did that for me when my 3rd was due. I was in his office at around noon, and my daughter was born just after 6pm.

    4. I was induced at 0830 and my son was born at 0940 (ish)

  6. Another yay for a boy! That was my prediction. Have no idea for a name except that I think Michael and Philip will figure into it.

  7. Aw, that is nice news. Ugh I hate the language "she was delivered of a son" as if she was a passive onlooker! She birthed that baby, no one else! Not to mention the list of (male) obstetricians whereas we know it was a midwifery led birth for both previous.

  8. Wonderful news.
St. George's day and a lovely young prince

  9. Lol-Jane, I bet you’re right and she was induced. Charlotte came super quick, and the little longer delivery this time was probably an induction-especially given the size (that’s a big boy!!) and the fact she’s got less than a month to be on world display and Harry’s wedding. Wishing her the best in recovery and hoping she avoids the baby blues.

    1. My feelings exactly, Katie. She has less than four weeks until the wedding.

    2. Haha, that is not a big boy. He is only one ounce bigger than George. My cousin was 9 pounds 11 ounces, now that is a big boy.

    3. It wasn`t much longer though - only a little less than half an hour longer.

  10. As a labour and delivery nurse, I can speak with some expertise and say it probably was not an induction in such a short amount of time. There are always exceptions of course, but they are just that and not the norm. An induction to delivery in 2.5 hours is pretty extraordinary, even for full term. Since we do know she has had midwifery care, I think it is more likely that she labours at home under their guidance until she is close to transitioning into active labour. Also, she birthed Charlotte at 0830. No OB at my hospital would start an induction at 4 or 5 electively. I think she is just one of those lucky women whose subsequent deliveries are faster than the first. Muscle memory is a remarkable thing.

  11. Just a bit of a follow up, I just got home from work after three nights shifts, and caught the 0400 announcement live. Our floor, and all the labouring mother's, were very excited about the prospect of sharing the date with a prince or princess.

  13. My prediction since October/November was that Kate was having a boy. I predict that Kate will wear green to leave the hospital.

    2. Bright red! Maybe we should have been prepared for that given that it's St. George's Day but I thought it might be more pastel. She looked gorgeous!

  15. Does anyone know if this same protocol will happen when harry and Meghan have a baby? Will the reporters be waiting and will the announcement be posted on an easel outside of Buckingham Palace too? Thank you

  17. Hello everybody, so happy for this very nice couple! they are real assets to the Crown! I have a question though that has nothing to do (sorry!): has anyone created a blog of some sort about Carol Middleton? I am her age and as I find her terribly elegant I would love to know about her favorite clothes brands etc. Thank you!
