Sneak Peek: Kate in Smythe & Aquatalia for Coach Core

Tuesday, October 30, 2018

Kate and William have arrived in Basildon for today's Coach Core event! Kate is looking fabulous in cozy, polished ensemble featuring some fan-favorite labels!

This is a sweet video fo Kate chatting outside the sporting center to little fans:

And a quick video of the bank of photographers waiting to greet them, too. :)

Kate is wearing an impeccably tailored blazer by one of her early brands, Smythe, IDed at lightening pace by Christin, who is one of the Queens of Kate IDs. Those lovely, pink-tinged sparklers are her Kiki McDonough Morganite drop earrings. Kiki messaged me with their official name, the White Gold Morganite Cushion Drops--I should probably stop making up names for Kate's various items. ;)

Kate is recycling her Aquatalia Fallon booties, too, which you can't see in this picture with William, but obviously in the opening shot.

I have to get out the door, but I will be back this afternoon to write up the full post!

  2. Jane, I love that video you put on Twitter of William saying “you’ve got warm hands” to the girl he was shaking hands with. I don’t want to start something, but could the division of W&K/H&M’s offices mean W&K are staking their claim on their future roles of King & Queen of the UK & Commonwealth & feel threatened by H&M’s growing popularity since their tour...or is there a bigger picture that we need to look at (re. The Queen, Charles etc. he isn’t getting any younger...) Maybe this is the wrong forum for this discussion.

    1. I really doubt William And Catherine have a problem with the Sussexes having a friendly tour. They all work for the same goal. It's possible the Cambridges are not interested in working in the same style as Harry and Megan but they work very differently from the Princess Royal and Wessex households while being a harmonious part of the same team.
William has supported his brother through their adult working lives and I don't think anything has changed. Harry has been his winsome younger sibling his hole life. It seems a false narrative built for clicks and headlines. The Cambridge household has seemed very confident and peaceful especially in the months since the birth of Louis. The Cambridges have shown over almost eight years that they are not drama people. I doubt they are interested in getting dragged into this fictional turn of the story. I think they will be steady on and ignore this too.

  3. Polished, casual yet elegant, perfect for the occasion. I love this look! Beautifully done, Kate.

  4. Nice outfit! I would like to see different trousers (slim cut vs jeggings) but I guess that's never going to happen. 😊

    1. I really dislike jeggings. I wish both Kate and Meghan would stop wearing them for engagements.

    2. I like the look; however, I too would have preferred to see her in slim cut pants. I think they would have worked just as well but would have provided better balance for the top half of her outfit, which is quite well put together. She would still have been able to participate in tennis and the other activities. Lovely to see W&K out together on an engagement.

  5. This outfit is proof that the commenters were so right: she needed darker black jeans to go with her boot/turtleneck outfits. This is just such an improvement from the faded black skinny jeans. She looks so much more put together and polished. Love it!

  6. Much as I like the idea of the outfit, as Lizzie has stated, slim cut trousers might've lifted the look. And it seems to me that just about every jacket Kate owns looks a size too small, hence, the reason that this jacket was left unopened, despite the cold weather. Of course, she might've borrowed this from Pippa, but if Kate purchased it, it has limited use if she can't fasten it shut.

For the doubters in the crowd, check out the fit of the sleeves; too short and too tight, just like the body of the jacket.

What is most remarkable is Kate's figure, a mere 6 months after giving birth to her 3rd!! child. I'll give THAT a two thumbs up!

    1. I agree about the fit of the jacket JC. I know people differ on how "close" they like their clothes to fit. Kate seems to like a tighter fit than I do in most of my own clothes. But whenever the upper sleeves of a jacket form lots of horizontal wrinkles and it looks like the jacket cannot be fastened in front, it seems those are signs to go up a size! I'm not even sure there wouldn't be arm wrinkling if this jacket did belong to Pippa---while she's shorter than Kate her upper arms are well-developed from exercise.

  7. She looks wonderful! She loves skinnies and isn't going to change her style to suit the current trend. Her jacket sleeves seem to me to fall exactly as they should and she does have a sweater under it. Beautiful jacket! Love the addition of the Kiki Morganites. Very chic.

  8. The outfit looks nice from the waist up- very pretty jacket! I think her jeans (jeggings?) are just way too tight to be appropriate for a professional outing- even if it was for a casual appearance. Kate has a lovely, slim figure and these jeans would be fine if she was on her private time, but, as she is wearing them for work, they are just too tight.

  9. I find this look very elegant. Kate can rock the skinny jeans with those good gorgeous long legs.
I’ve always loved Smythe’s jackets and have to disagree that it’s too small. It’s tailored to be fitted both in the arms and torso. I’ve seen other images where her arms are down and the sleeves are definitely not too short. That’s something I notice as iVe got very long arms 😎 I think the angle in some of the photos are deceiving.

  10. Rather than updating this post, I have published a new one covering today's engagement, plus my thoughts on KP's social media shift. See you all over there...but only when you are ready. Isn't this like being told at a party the hostess wants you to move from the kitchen to the den? You are welcome in either spot, I am just alerting you that the appetizers and cocktails are on the main post. ;)

  11. This is way too picky, but I agree with the comments on the jeggings. There are so many great options for smart trousers, so why not? Up the style quotient a bit! What about slightly wide leg trousers with an awesome short boot? I would have liked to see the jacket buttoned, at least one. But maybe that starts to take on a much more formal look...On another note, I don't know what it means that Harry and Meghan are not with KP? Is Heads Together now defunct?
Can someone explain? Does this mean the 'Heads Together' initiative is now defunct?

  12. I'm certainly no expert Anon 7:41 but I don't think that dividing the joint KP offices/court would necessarily alter the Royal Foundation. I would also think splitting the Foundation (& its assets) would raise some legal issues (even for royals!) way beyond simply changing the name as was done to add Meghan. But I hope others with more expertise in this area will weigh in.

    1. My understanding is that the Royal Foundation is its own entity, and while there may be coordination between the KP offices and the Foundation offices they aren’t one and the same. The Foundation has a focus beyond the personal lives of the Cambridges & Sussexes, and while splitting courts/offices makes logistical sense there’s no reason the group can’t work together on Foundation business (even if they focus on different projects under the Foundation umbrella). Why would Heads Together need to be defunct?

  13. I agree with other blogers that the Palace and the press overdone to publicise Meghan Markle even when they publish about Kate, in the middle they have to talk about the Sussex. Finally I don't buy any magasine when the cover shows Meghan!

  14. Wow! Kate looks fantastic with her lean and mean figure! And to think that this is a mother of 3! Choosing all black from top to toe gives a very polished look. Is she emulating the Meghan all black look? I do hope that she doesn't go down the Meghan route and wear black all the time though.
